NITRO Presented at Cyber Security Operation Defender Athens

June 1, 2026

Dr. Aristeidis Farao, Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Piraeus, participated as a speaker at the Cyber Security Operation Defender event held in Athens, Greece,
from 25 to 27 May 2026. Hosted by the National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA) of Greece within the trilateral cybersecurity upskilling programme with Israel and Cyprus, the event focused on Artificial Intelligence in Cybersecurity for the young generation. During the sessions on “Artificial Intelligence in Cybersecurity: Opportunities, Risks, and Hands-On Applications,” Dr. Farao presented the NITRO project (https://nitro-project.eu/), highlighting its specialised 5G-IoT cyber range for simulating, testing, and training on the security of interconnected 5G networks and IoT systems. The presentation aligned closely with the event’s emphasis on practical training, CTF challenges, and adversarial AI, showcasing how NITRO enables realistic scenarios of cascading attacks and adversarial AI exercises to strengthen the skills of cybersecurity professionals and enhance the resilience of critical infrastructures.
