IURC presented the NITRO project to the company CENCUS (https://census-labs.com/) on 18 March 2026, including a discussion on the 5G stack and common cybersecurity threats.
Key focus areas included the NITRO 5G-IoT Cyber Range, and technical discussion on the attack scenarios, including, among others: a) DoS (Denial of Service): Exploitation of session management vulnerabilities to disrupt user connectivity. b) Tunnel Hijacking: Redirection of network traffic through attacker-controlled User Equipment (UE). c) Eavesdropping: Unauthorized forwarding of traffic to compromised UEs.
The presentation emphasized the technical mechanisms behind 5G attacks and demonstrated how flaws can expose 5G infrastructure to sophisticated threats.
