On 14 January 2026, the University of Piraeus Research Center (UPRC), and UBITECH, participated in the event AI Enables Cybersecurity: The Meetup, held at the headquarters of the OTE. During the event, the research teams presented the NITRO project, highlighting its strategic objectives, innovative scope, and contribution to next-generation cybersecurity solutions.
In addition to the project overview, the researchers offered a sneak preview of the NITRO platform, providing the audience with early insights into its capabilities. NITRO delivers an advanced cyber range tailored for 5G and IoT environments, enabling realistic experimentation, training, and evaluation of security mechanisms. A key focus of the discussions with the audience was the platform’s support for adversarial AI–driven attacks.
NITRO’s status stimulated constructive discussions with the audience, covering potential enhancements, real-world deployment considerations, and synergies with related research projects. These exchanges underlined the project’s role in strengthening preparedness and resilience in complex 5G and IoT ecosystems through cutting-edge cyber range technology.
